Raymer Strength expands their depth of knowledge on athlete movement and individualized programming

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Indianapolis, IN– This week, Coach Edwin “Eddie” Arechiga, recent hire for Raymer Strength, LLC, earned the Functional Movement Screen Level 1 certification after many hours of study and examination.

The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a screening tool used to evaluate fundamental movement patterns in individuals with no current pain complaint or musculoskeletal injury. The FMS is not intended to diagnose orthopedic problems but rather to demonstrate opportunities for improved movement in individuals.

“For me, the FMS is another tool in my tool belt to figure out the question of ‘why,’” says Coach Eddie. “The Functional Movement Screens empowers me to ask why certain movements are uncomfortable or painful. It helps me analyze what movement patterns are restricted, and helps me identify what can we do to assist an athlete into a better movement pattern over time.’

“I’m excited to be able to create better blueprints to help athletes become better overall movers and competitors.”

In achieving the FMS-1 certification, Coach Eddie can now…

  • Recognize and evaluate movement patterns that support work, sports and daily activities.

  • Understand the true relationship that movement patterns play in our health and fitness goals.

  • Identify principles to support the importance of movement screening.

  • Explain the role of mobility, motor control, and functional patterns in fundamental movement.

  • Demonstrate the use of the Functional Movement Screen instructions and procedures

  • Conduct free movement assessments for all of our new and current athletes

“I’m really excited for Coach Eddie’s new certification,” says Head Coach Jeremy Raymer. “It adds to the depth of our team, and we can now collaborate on a higher level while brainstorming athletes’ training programs— aiming to help them become better athletes and reduce their chances of injury.”
